Game Making

You might remember back in an earlier post we talked about how we were about to create outdoor games in groups. Well, we came up with some fun games: have a look at some of the pictures. Watch out for a procedure on how to play each game also.

Equipment:   A basketball per team   Two teams(including yourself)   2 hula hoops    How to play:1.     Firstly, separate into two teams. One person has to call out brainiac… then mania. The caller can’t look what is happening. 2.   When the caller yells out ‘brainac’ the first person in line on each team has to run up to the basketball in the hoop on the other teams direction. 3.    Then they pick up the basketballs. 4.  Dribble the ball back to the end of the line before the caller yells out ‘mania’. 5.  When the person yells out mania you have made it. The caller turns around. The team opens their legs and the person with the ball, rolls it through the legs until it reaches the front.  6.  Then the person at the front dribbles the ball to where the ball was at the beginning of the game. 7.    Repeat this routine until everyone in the team finishes.

Your game sounds like a lot of fun. Your instructions are clear and easy to understand. I might use this game for stage two fitness on Mondays. Your site is great.

The game looks like it would a great challenge. When are you teaching the rest of the school?

We taught the game to some other stage 3er’s who just loved it. It went so well in fact we plan on teaching another one. We are in the process of evaluating our games. This will take a while, as each game needs to be played and assessed. If we allow 5 minutes per game, times 30= 150 minutes at least. Say 3 hours. Plus a few minutes to fill in the assessment sheet. After we have done all of this, we will have an accurate idea of how SAFE, SHORT, SIMPLE and STIMULATING it really was. Stay Tuned!
